Unsatisfactory work
Dental negligence can be viewed separately for a number of reasons. Firstly, unlike most medical procedures, it is possible to judge the work objectively. A dentist may simply have done 'a bad job' of removing or filling a tooth, fitting braces etc. It may also be quite obvious if for example the wrong tooth has been removed or cosmetic effects are unsatisfactory. As you also tend to visit the same dentist over a period of time your old records can be very useful.
The level of damages that can be awarded may reflect discomfort caused by treatment of the initial injury, or how difficult this may be. Compensation may be increased if there is difficulty in eating:
- Loss or serious damage to several front teeth £5,100 to £6,600
- Loss or serious damage to two front teeth £2,550 to £4,300
- Loss or serious damage to one front t tooth £1,300 to £2,300
- Loss or damage to back teeth: per tooth £630 to £1,000
If you feel that you need to sue your dentist, or simply make a complaint against the NHS, please submit your details via the enquiry form, and we will work to get you the compensation that you need.
